Recorded Statements & Interviews

This takes a trained ear.

Our investigators (PIs) play an important role in gathering evidence and information for clients involved in various cases. One of the key methods of gathering evidence used by PIs is recorded statements. Recorded statements are a crucial tool that PIs use to gather and verify accurate, detailed, and reliable information. They are used in many different investigative scenarios and are critical to building a strong case. When used correctly, they can make a significant difference in the outcome of an investigation, including using them for cross-examination in a court of law.

Obtaining the Facts

What is a Recorded Statement?

A recorded statement is a verbal or written record of information provided by an individual. This information can be given in response to questions asked by an investigator or provided voluntarily by the individual. The statement can be recorded through various mediums, including video, audio, or written format.

When are Recorded Statements Used by PIs?

Recorded statements are commonly used by private investigators in various investigative scenarios. Some common examples include:

Insurance Claims: In cases where an insurance claim is disputed, a PI may conduct a recorded statement of the claimant, witnesses or any other involved party to obtain the facts and to verify or refute the claims.

Personal Injury: PI’s gather recorded statements from witnesses or involved parties in personal injury cases to understand how the incident occurred, the facts surrounding the incident, and to gather evidence that can be used in court.

Background Checks: A PI may use a recorded statement during a background investigation to verify information on a job applicant’s resume or application.

Criminal Defense: In criminal cases, a PI can obtain a recorded statement from witnesses or an accused party to gather evidence that can be used to build a defense.
