Private Investigation Internship Opportunities
Emerging Investigations offers structured internship programs for students and aspiring investigators seeking hands-on experience in the private investigation profession. Our internship program provides exposure to real investigative work under the supervision of licensed professionals, giving participants a practical foundation that academic study alone cannot provide.
Whether you are a criminal justice student, pre-law undergraduate, or career changer exploring the investigation field, our program equips you with the skills, knowledge, and professional connections to launch a successful investigation career in Florida.
What You Will Learn
Our internship program covers the core competencies of professional private investigation including surveillance techniques and field operations, evidence collection, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures, database research using professional investigative tools, background investigation methodology, report writing and evidence presentation, Florida PI licensing requirements and legal framework, interview and witness statement techniques, and professional ethics and client confidentiality.
Interns work alongside experienced licensed investigators on active cases, gaining practical experience that directly translates to professional competency.
Program Structure
Internships are available on a semester or summer schedule and can be structured to meet academic credit requirements. Programs typically run 10 to 16 weeks and include a combination of classroom instruction, supervised field work, office-based research assignments, and professional development activities.
We work with each intern's academic institution to ensure the program meets curriculum requirements and provides documentation for course credit where applicable.
Who Should Apply
We welcome applications from undergraduate and graduate students in criminal justice, law, criminology, forensic science, and related fields. We also consider applicants from other academic backgrounds who demonstrate strong interest in the investigation profession. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, pass a background check, possess a valid Florida driver's license, and maintain reliable transportation.
Prior investigation experience is not required โ we train our interns from the ground up.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should contact Emerging Investigations with a resume and brief statement of interest. We conduct interviews on a rolling basis and accept interns for fall, spring, and summer terms. Space is limited to ensure quality mentorship and supervision for each participant.
